Back on the 2nd January I had my first shoot with Andy, = Thoughts become things =. I was a little nervous to be completely honest as the shoot had been arranged quite last minute and was the first "home shoot" I had done with a new photographer in a number of years!
Thankfully Andy was very good at communicating all his ideas in the short space of time and was very friendly and welcoming when I arrived! We chatted over a cup of tea and got straight to shooting the mountain of ideas (sadly we coulnd't do some of the things he had planned due to the lack of natural light - but something has to be saved for another time right?!).
Andy communicated well throughout and gave good direction, but also let me input some of my own ideas and get into my own groove. I am 'one of those models' that likes to look at the back of the camera after most sets, I'm not citicising the photographer but I'd hate to see the final images and be frustrated with myself for not lifting my head a little higher or having a strange hand placement. I've seen thousands and thousands of images of myself over the years and have become very critical of my own skills as a model. I like to put everything I have into shoots and I want to make sure the images you get are spot on! A lot of small annoyances can be overcome by checking the poses at the time and re-shooting one or two if necessary (in this case it was more like re-shooting the same pose about 8 times until I finally got my body to work the way i wanted haha) but I was glad we took those extra few minutes to get something awesome rather than something just about okay!!
I was super happy that Andy was also up for shooting a concept of my own which was to combine two of my favourite things: Kimono & Corsets! This was quite personal to me as they are both items which I feel say something about me. Having spent time in Japan I have fallen in love with everything Japanese, including the more traditional styling (I think I came home with about 8 kimono, under kimono, slippers, shoes, accessories and a few bits of silk to cut up and make into lingerie!)
I feel very sensual when wearing kimono (even though I'm quite obviously not Japanese) and wanted to combine this with a more British item that I have also loved for a long time (I'm really interested in how they are made and the history of corsets) and that too makes me feel very sexy and sensual. I think the combination worked well and was something I very definitely enjoyed experimenting with!!
I think we made a great team and I get super excited each time I see my dropbox folder has been updated! Below are some of the images I've seen so far (click to enlarge):
p.s all the harnesses were hand made by me :D
Andy was also kind enough to leave me this lovely reference over on Purpleport:
Had an awesome shoot with Miss Rose this weekend. Comms were great and we discussed some ideas beforehand. She came fully prepared and ready to go, after a quick brew of course! We made the most of the time and i was impressed with her professionalism and the effortless poses she was able to pull. I kept things fairly basic in terms of lighting setups but was able to produce some stunning results. Miss Rose is a friendly and talented model and her experience shines through. She brings an artistic flair to the shoot and worked well with or without direction. Recommended 100% without hesitation :)
Thank you for looking, more imge heavy shoots posts soon to come!
