Hello,
This is a bit of an unusual post from me but here goes.... I recently had an absolutely wonderful shoot with SPD who was very kind and sent me a few of the unedited images from our shoot as he knows that I am also studying photography (and hence editing techniques). It's really quite rare that I get to edit images of myself taken by others so this was a really great learning opportunity for me (and i'm very grateful to Stephen!). The shoot was incredibly productive and we shot so many styles from nude through lingerie and even managed to fit in a session in one of my favourite kimono! :D The below image is the first shoot I got to wear one of my new Agent Provocateur lingerie sets! (I love it so much!)
Any comments or advice on the below images would be much appreciated, though please give constructive criticism only (I'm really only just starting to learn)!
Original image
Just for comparison purposes (completely unedited)
(Right) -------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Version 1
<-------------- (left)
This was my first edit, I used a combination of Lightroom & the Nik collection (Silver Efex 2).
Although I like the colour of my hair in the original, I felt it was an image best suited to Black & White; I think it shows off the detail in the lingerie nicely.
I feel this version is a little too dark, especially around the face, but I quite liked the depth in the eyes and lips (though perhaps the lips are too dark?)
Version 2
---------------> (Right)
This was not my own edit but someone else's interpretation.
It made me realise that whilst I like the contrast in my version, perhaps it is quite a lot too dark
Version 3
<------------- (left)
I put the image back into Lightroom to make minor adjustments to my first version.
I have mainly lessened the shadow around the face, hair and stockings. Along with making the lips just a little lighter.
I have also lightened the suspender belt to make the detailed pattern stand out slightly more.
I am overall quite happy with this version but would really appreciate any further feedback / advice on how to improve further or even suggestions for future edits.
As a side note: I haven't got Photoshop yet so that isn't an option just yet and may take some time to learn how to use the programme when I do get it!
If you can't leave a comment here I shall link the post on facebook, or you can email me if easier: MissScarlotRose@hotmail.com - Thank you in advance :)
More of the images from this shoot can be seen on Stephen's Purpleport account.
Another side note that may be completely irrelevant to some but I feel is a huge personal achievement... I haven't actually done anything to adjust my skin in these images (no "skin softening/smoothing" or spot removal). This is a huge deal to me as I've always suffered with Acne and am very proud to say my skin is finally clearing up! This makes me feel a lot more confident and hopefully is a lot better for everyone I work with too! :)
