A while ago now I got chatting to Gordon Millner, we hadn't worked together for a number of years but I saw Gordon was experimenting more and more with video work which is something I have fairly little experience in and I thoroughly enjoyed working with him all those years ago. We started drawing up a mood board and soon had more ideas than we could possibly manage to shoot in one day!

The main idea was to work around dance themes as this is something I have experience in that may be different to previous video work Gordon had shot. We also managed to get Nicola Racheal Gunby involved to do the makeup for the shoot! Gordon hired out "The Pit" studio for the day and after plenty of idea sharing the day finally arrived!
Nicola had only recently got into doing makeup for photo-shoots and she was absolutely lovely to work
with, very professional and had loads of wonderful kit! We got started straight away and worked on a fairly natural ballet look for a "warm up" style video. (Of course, there had to be glitter involved!)

The video was really interesting to shoot, Gordon set up the lighting and had all manor of fancy contraptions for filming which were all quite fascinating!
For my part it was mainly a case of "freestyle" moving to the music we had chosen and repeating similar movements over again. Gordon filmed my movements several times from different angles with the idea of putting it all together as a slightly more interesting montage to give variety of angles, close ups and full body shots. To say I haven't danced / been taught any kind of ballet for around 6+ years I'm quite pleased with how this all flowed. It was really quite an emotional experience of just moving however felt natural with the music. I was really worried at first that i'd just freeze or forget how to move but it all came really naturally the moment the music started to play!
Here is the first video:

From here we went on to shoot various other styles, all keeping the dance theme but with a variety of outfits, styling, music and mood. It was so much fun to just be let loose to move and express myself however came naturally with the music. I seem to have so many emotions bottled up inside it was quite cathartic to just let go (no, there was no Frozen sing alongs don't worry!)
Another of the looks Nicola created was a complete change - more glitter!! -->
